Speaking Engagements

My brief 3 week visit to India forced me to stay for 7 months working in the villages.  I was sharing my experience with my friends in USA.  I made a lot of friends during my school days, Bachelors, Masters and work life.  Many of them expressed a deep concern for what is happening to India.  On one front, India is progressing, GDP is growing.  The richer are getting richer, the poorer are getting poorer.  Every sector in India has developed except the farmer.  Our cultural heritage, family values and health are deteriorating.

When I was in USA, every weekend, all of our friends would get together, eat a lot, some drink, discuss at length the issues facing India, our people, pollution, traffic, corruption, caste, dowry, agriculture, IT, stocks, etc.  We then figure out whom or what to blame, it could be the caste system, dowry system, some Chief Minister or a Prime Minister, or even Mahatma Gandhi or Nehru.  Stay awake until past midnight and go home and sleep.  Many Many MANY of our fellow Indians do this.  I was one of them.  We all had "brilliant ideas" on how to fix things.  But at the end of the day, we go home and sleep and get ready for the next work week.

One of my friends said, "Sudha, we admire your courage and sacrifice to take this step to work for our people.  All of us want to do likewise but we cannot leave our jobs and our families.  Our heart is there with you.  All we can do is support you from here.  Why don't you come back to USA for a few months and meet all your friends and bring awareness about the ground reality and how we can be part of this movement."

With the guidance of my spiritual teacher, I took this journey to tour USA for a few months.
